Dutch CNC Grondstoffen BV and Dohme Pilzzucht GmbH in Germany will be collaborating on the production and distribution of phase III compost and phase IV trays, according to a press release by CNC on October 6th.
A recent report of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) about the 2013 – 2014 season, shows that the production of mushrooms in the US reached close to 900 million pounds (408 million kg). Compared tothe previous seasons, this is an increase of 1 %. The production of organic mushrooms went up by 65%. Despite this strong growth, organic mushrooms still represent a small part (3%) of the total mushroom sales in the US.
The European Commission has found that Lutèce, Prochamp and Bonduelle participated in a cartel to coordinate prices and allocate customers of canned mushrooms in Europe during more than a year and has imposed fines totalling € 32 225 000. Lutèce was not fined as it benefited from immunity under the Commission's 2006 Leniency Notice for revealing the existence of the cartel to the Commission. Prochamp benefitted from fine reductions. Since all three undertakings agreed to settle the case with the Commission, their fines were further reduced by 10%, according to a press release on 25 June.
On Friday 13 June, the new mushroom pavilion at agricultural museum De Locht in Melderslo, The Netherlands was officially opened. The pavilion shows visitors a modern slant on the history of mushroom cultivation.

Mush Comb is moving to a new location in The Netherlands. The new production facility is currently built (see picture) and will be in operation on 1st of April, the new office will be in operation on 1st of July.
Under authority of the United States Department of Agriculture, the Mushroom Council (Council) and its funding partners conduct research to discover new and/or add validity to known health and nutrition benefits of eating mushrooms. Nutrition research provides the scientific support for practical/actionable consumer public relations and marketing messages that result in increased mushroom consumption.
