Oude Sluis wins Silver Mushroom

October 31, 2008

The team of restaurant Oude Sluis has won the 24th edition of the most prestigious cooking contest in The Netherlands, The Silver Mushroom.

The contest was organised in ‘De Brabanthallen’ in Den Bosch, the same venue where the Dutch Mushroom Days are held. To win the yearly trophy, each of eight competing restaurant teams has to prepare and serve a four course meal for eight guests on the spot. There’s one important condition: each course – except desert – has to contain mushrooms (Agaricus and other species). The jury was impressed with the high quality of all entries but the passionate performance of Oude Sluis (Syrco de Bakker and Benjamin de Buck) was simply the best.
