John is well known within the mushroom growing sector, having clocked up more than 16yrs experience developing an in-depth technical knowledge of the industry.

During his career John worked at the MushroomSchool in Horst, Holland, as a teacher in subjects varying from composting to climate control.
He then moved to Ireland where he started his own company, “De Gier Consulting”, advising growers and mushroom marketing companies on how to improve yields and returns within their businesses.

In more recent years John’s work has taken him to many other European Countries, including  Hungary, Serbia, Ukraine and Spain where he set-up compost production at new facilities and advised composters and mushroom growers on technical matters.

John is looking forward to his new role with J.F.McKenna Ltd and hopes to meet many customers in person at upcoming mushroom conferences and on his travels throughout the world.
